The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Partnerships & Communications Specialist to join its team in Seoul, Republic of Korea. This role is open only to Korean nationals and offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic partnerships, enhance visibility, and amplify UNDP’s mission through innovative communications. Position Purpose:

The Partnerships & Communications Specialist at the Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) will drive partnerships, communications, and policy outcomes—focusing on private sector engagement and development. The Specialist will:

  • Build and manage partnerships with Korean public/private stakeholders, including donors.

  • Enhance USPC’s visibility through strategic messaging aligned with UNDP and SDG priorities.

  • Lead private sector engagement, leveraging Korean innovation and resources for sustainable development.

  • Collaborate across UNDP teams to deliver integrated policy, partnership, and communications support.

The role requires a strategic thinker who can strengthen donor relations, advise on policy, and amplify UNDP’s impact through targeted outreach.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for Partnerships & Communications Specialist

  • Strategic Partnerships & Donor Relations
    • Develop and manage partnerships with Korean stakeholders (MOFA, private sector, NGOs) to advance USPC/UNDP goals.
    • Strengthen UNDP’s visibility and influence through advocacy in Korean and English.
    • Coordinate high-level missions, donor reporting, and partnership agreements.
  • Communications & Outreach
    • Lead USPC’s communications strategy, including digital/social media, media relations, and branding.
    • Produce multilingual content to highlight UNDP’s impact on SDGs in Korea.
    • Manage reputational risks and ensure compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Private Sector Engagement & Policy
    • Oversee programs like Youth Co:Lab Korea and SDG Partnership on MSMEs to foster innovation.
    • Drive policy dialogue on private sector development, leveraging Korean expertise for global impact.
    • Ensure programmatic/financial delivery of private sector initiatives.
  • Advisory & Knowledge Management
    • Advise the Centre Director on partnerships, communications, and policy alignment with UNDP’s Strategic Plan.
    • Support knowledge-sharing and corporate reporting on USPC’s achievements.

Supervisory Role: Manages 3 team members (Private Sector Specialist, Youth Entrepreneurship Analyst, Outreach Analyst).

Qualifications of Partnerships & Communications Specialist

Education:

  • Master’s degree + 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree + 9 years of relevant experience
    (in communications, partnerships, or policy/programme support related to sustainable development/international cooperation)

Experience & Skills:

Required:

  • Proven track record in communications strategies, partnership development, and donor engagement

  • Strong reporting, knowledge product development, and advocacy skills

  • Prior experience with international organizations (UNDP experience a plus)

  • Fluency in English and Korean (written & spoken)

Preferred Assets:

  • Experience in high-level event coordination, policy dialogue, and private sector engagement

  • Knowledge of ROK’s development cooperation landscape

  • Proficiency in digital tools (CMS, social media, web platforms)

  • Supervisory experience and technical expertise in private sector development

Language:

  • Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable
