NYU Law school invites LLM students to apply for the LLM Public Interest Fellowship. Moreover, the fellowship program aims to build the next generation of lawyers through its rigorous fellowship and training program. What do a Public Interest Fellows receive?

The NYU law school awards two fellows with the Public Interest Fellowship. The fellowship includes the candidates working twelve weeks at the host organization. Furthermore, each fellow will receive a compensation of $7000 for the period of the fellowship.

Who is eligible for Public Interest Fellowship 2020?

New York University Law School offers Public Interest fellowship to two candidates to work for a period of twelve weeks at the host organization of their choosing. However, to receive the fellowship, candidates must meet the criteria set by the NYU Law School to become eligible.

  • Must be an NYU Law School student working towards their LLM degree.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic qualification along with the commitment to the public interest
  • Must apply for an eligible host organization which include non-profit organizations, intergovernmental organizations, as well as government agencies in the United States or abroad
  • Further, the proposed fellowship must be relevant to the applicant’s career goal

How to apply for the Public Interest Fellowship at NYU Law School?

To apply for the fellowship at New York University Law School, applicants must be a student at NYU Law School. Further, the Law School should receive the application via email before the deadline. Moreover, the application should include:

  • A summary page that includes:
    • Applicant’s name, address, email, and phone number
    • List of two references, with names, as well as contact information
    • Name and address of host organization
    • Also, Contact person at the host organization, with email and phone number
  • Brief description of the work to be executed as Fellow (approximately 2-3 sentences)
  • Further, the applicant’s resume
  • Moreover, a personal statement setting forth
    • Why the applicant is interested in a fellowship at the host organization
    • The applicant’s career goals and how the fellowship would contribute to those goals
    • The applicant’s skills and knowledge, including relevant course work, clinics, internships, and student group involvement (300-500 words)
  • Letter of recommendation from a law school professor or former employer
  • Also, a Commitment letter from the host organization confirming the fellow’s placement and what work the fellow will carry out

Deadline

The application for LLM Public Interest Fellowship 2020 is open until 3 February 2020. NYU Law School will not consider applications arriving after the deadline.
