UNICEF Public Partnerships Divison calls application for an internship in Washington, United States of America. The Public Partnerships Division is responsible for developing and strengthening public partnerships to support UNICEF’s work to protect the rights of every child. The partnerships with the US government and with International Financial Institutions (IFI) are two of UNICEF’s most important and multi-faceted external partnerships.

Summary

The candidate undertaking UNICEF Public Partnerships Internship will work closely with the Public Partnerships staff based in Washington D.C., supporting UNICEF in managing partnerships and resource mobilization with the various institutions of the Governments of the United States, global program partnerships, and with International Finance Institutions (IFIs) (including the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation, and regional development banks).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Public Partnerships Division in maximizing partnerships with the U.S. Government and Washington, DC-based International Financial Institutions, with a focus on efforts to address the threat of Covid-19 in the poorest countries.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing notes, reports, and other documentation required by UNICEF leadership for meetings with partners.
  • Draft and update information and fact sheets on engagement with DC partners.
  • Perform ad hoc research on engagement strategies and assist in maintaining up-to-date resource partner profiles.
  • Compile data, information, and news clips on subject matter relevant to the work of the office.
  • Attend and report on events or briefings associated with UNICEF’s strategic mission.
  • Support other functions of the Public Partnerships team as needed.

Requirements 

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with a preferred major in international development or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize and communicate concepts clearly.
  • Ability to conduct research and draft reports.
  • Capacity to work independently on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to changing demands and circumstances.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must uphold and demonstrate the UNICEF core values of Commitment, Diversity, and Integrity.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

UNICEF will provide a small monthly stipend during the duration of this Internship. The internship is full time (40 hours per week).
