Facebook calls candidates to apply for the Research Internship on Advanced Sensors in the United States of America.

Summary 

The Camera and Sensors group in AR/VR at Facebook is developing products for the next generation of augmented and virtual reality. Amongst other focus areas, the group specializes in research and implementation of advanced sensors with an eye towards driving the state of the art. The group is looking for candidates with experience in image processing algorithm development and validation to collaborate with the team in pursuit of novel sensing technologies.

Responsibilities 

The intern on Research Internship on Advanced Sensors at Facebook in the United States will do the following duties

• Collaborate with researchers and engineers across product and research teams within AR/VR at Facebook on advanced sensing systems.
• Create, execute, and optimize image processing algorithms for advanced sensors.
• Aid in designing data collection pipelines for testing sensors and algorithms.

Requirements 

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Ph.D. degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning or related fields.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
• At least one year of experience directly developing image processing algorithms for sensing systems. In addition to that, at least two years of experience programming in C/C++, Python, or Matlab.
• Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Intent to return to the degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
• Minimum of two years of lab experience with independent research.
• Experience implementing deep-learning architectures for image processing applications.
• Familiarity with Pytorch or Tensorflow as well as knowledge of optical imaging sensors and systems.
