Ohio State University offers its internship program to students as Sales Coordinator. The Sales and Catering Intern reports to the Associate GM, Director of Sales of the Blackwell Inn. This Intern is responsible for the overall administrative support of the sales department and will work with sales and catering managers and hotel associates to ensure the effectiveness and overall success of the department.

Further, the Sales and Catering Intern will provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times and will be responsible for exemplifying The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center. The Intern will provide administrative support to the Sales and Catering department and general office duties, assist the Director of Sales with data entry, reports, and special projects, maintains records for department, attend and take minutes during appropriate staff meetings, assist catering sales manager with vouchers for groups (breakfast, valet, etc.) and maintain confidentiality of department information and pertinent guest data. Also, the intern will assist with promotional and marketing including not limited to tradeshows and social media.

This is an entry-level, career-based internship. Moreover, it is intended for the professional development of an applicant with only 6 to 24 months of practical experience. Internship positions are appointed on an annual basis.

Reimbursement for the Sales Coordinator Internship

The Sales Coordinator Internship program at Ohio State University guarantees the reimbursement at a rate of $15.00 per hour.

What qualifications do you need for a Sales Coordinator Internship?

This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates and resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Likewise, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs,
  • Professional and confidential, ability to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written,
  • Further, highly detail orientated,
  • have strong organizational skills
  • be able to work in a fast-paced environment,
  • excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Additionally, guest service experience, working knowledge of the hotel, a good understanding of Sales and Conference procedures,
  • Also, experience with hospitality software Delphi.fdc/Amadeus is a plus.
