SDG Finance Policy Analyst – Green Investment & Sustainable Development | Beijing, China

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Team Leader of Strategic Partnerships and Policy (SPP), the SDG Finance Policy Analyst will lead UNDP China’s SDG finance portfolio, driving policy innovation, partnerships, and resource mobilization. Key responsibilities include:
- Policy & Programme Leadership
- Provide strategic inputs for SDG finance research, policy advocacy, and project design.
- Advise governments, financial institutions, and partners on sustainable finance aligned with the SDGs.
- Integrate gender mainstreaming into policy and programme development.
- Knowledge Management & Advocacy
- Identify and share best practices on SDG finance with national/global stakeholders.
- Develop policy briefs, reports, and knowledge products to showcase UNDP’s impact.
- Partnerships & Resource Mobilization
- Build alliances with UN agencies, IFIs, private sector, and NGOs to scale SDG financing.
- Support fundraising efforts through proposals and donor engagement.
- Project Management
- Monitor projects using Results-Based Management (RBM) tools, ensuring quality and impact.
- Oversee work plans, procurement, and reporting for assigned initiatives.
- Cross-Cutting Support
- Contribute to other SPP team priorities (e.g., green transition, human development).
- Undertake additional tasks as needed to advance UNDP’s mandate.

Required Skills and Experience of SDG Finance Policy Analyst
Education:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, International Development, or related fields required;
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in the above fields plus 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
- 2+ years (with Master’s) or 4+ years (with Bachelor’s) in sustainable finance policy, advisory, or partnerships;
- Proven expertise in international green/sustainable bonds markets, including:
- Framework design, issuance modalities, and debt instruments;
- Blended finance and fiscal policy;
- Experience supporting China’s dual carbon goals and/or SDG financing initiatives;
- Prior engagement with UNDP Sustainable Finance Hub tools/initiatives (a strong asset).
Languages:
- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (required).
