UN Women opens application for Beijing Youth Task Force.

The year 2020 will be a confluence of anniversaries including the 25^th anniversary of the Beijing Conference and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA); the five-year review of the Sustainable Development Goals; the 20^th anniversary of the adoption of the Security Council Resolution 1325; and the 10^th anniversary of the creation of UN Women.

As we take stock of progress made in advancing women’s rights and gender equality, UN Women aims to ensure that young people are at the center of this process. Moreover, it focuses on the 25-year review and appraisal of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Hence, UN Women is announcing a call for applications for the composition of a time-limited Youth Task Force. Moreover, the task force will work closely with UN Women to ensure the meaningful involvement of young people in the global processes of the 25^th review and appraisal of the BPfA. Further, the Youth Task Force will work in four thematic committees. Also, the applicants to the Task Force will indicate a preference for membership of a thematic committee.

Who is eligible for UN Women Beijing Youth Task Force?

UN Women will nominate up to 30 members for the Beijing+25 Youth Task Force from a pool of applications.  Furthermore, the criteria for the selection includes:

• Regional and geographic balance.
• Compliance with the age requirement.
• Nomination to the task force will adhere to the leave no one behind principle ensuring diverse representation across intersectional complexities.
• Also, applicants must have proven experience in youth mobilization.
• Interest and motivation.
• Further, applicants that represent broad networks, youth organizations, and civic movements will gain priority.
• Moreover, the nomination will seek broad representation from young advocates who focus their work on the 12 critical areas of concern of Declaration and Platform for Action

How do I apply for UN Women Beijing Youth Task Force?

Interested candidates can apply for the UN Women Beijing Youth Task Force completing and submitting the online application form.

Further, the candidates will require to send a resume together with a recommendation letter from your organization/network/movement via email before the deadline.

However, an organization may at most nominate only two candidates for the Task Force.

Deadline

UN Women will accept the application for the Beijing 25+ Youth Task Force until 15 July 2019. Past the deadline, UN Women will not entertain any further application.
