Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) and the Field Security Coordination/Training Officer (FSCO), the Security Training Analyst Intern plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of safety and security training programs across Sudan. The intern also contributes to the analysis of security trends, helping to contextualize training materials and identify early warning signs that could affect the safety and security of UN personnel and operations in the country.
- Support the development of safety & security-related training
- Assist in designing and planning the UNDSS Sudan safety and security training programme, including annual workplans and activity calendars.
- Conduct research on training content and specific topics to support development.
- Maintain and secure an up-to-date library of training materials.
- Support creation and analysis of pre- and post-training surveys.
- Review training drafts for clarity, consistency, and instructional design.
- Perform fact-checking and validation of training content.
- Gather and analyze security-related information from open sources, INGOs, and UN agencies.
- Recommend contextual adaptations to training based on security analysis.
- Translate selected training materials from English to Arabic as needed.
- Coordination with stakeholders and advocacy
- Coordinate with UN agencies and I/NGOs to establish the training gaps and needs.
- Explore opportunities for collaboration e.g. by delivering training jointly with other UN and I/NGO specialists.
- Support outreach to inform beneficiaries of upcoming training opportunities and facilitate registration of participants.
- Support the preparation of visibility materials on conducted training
- Organize logistics for training sessions
- Be available for frequent travel to support training outside Port Sudan.
- Assist in organizing and delivering safety and security training for UN staff and INGOs.
- Arrange travel logistics for training sessions.
- Maintain a database of participants and training records.
- Prepare and distribute training completion certificates.
- Respond to inquiries about training schedules and registration.
- Handle all training-related matters with professionalism and confidentiality
- General administrative assistance
- Provide general administrative assistance to the CSA and the UNDSS team.
- Maintain routine and confidential files and documents.
- Arrange appointments and calls as appropriate, take meeting minutes and notes as required
- The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization

Required Skills and Experience for Security Training Analyst Internship
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, Management or a relevant field is required. OR
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in combination with additional two years of qualifying work experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Applicable security, police and/or military training is desirable.
- Additional certification in education, training delivery, adult learning or related areas is an asset.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- A minimum of two(2) years (with a Master’s degree) or four(4) years (with a Bachelor`s degree or equivalent) of relevant progressively responsible experience in security, preferably in the military or police context or related field of work is required. Qualifying years of experience are calculated after the receipt of an accredited advanced level degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) or a first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) recognized by the United Nations.
- Experience in designing training programmes/workshops, preparing training manuals, and delivering training to adults is required.
- Proven experience in conducting training needs assessment is desirable.
- Experience delivering safety and security, and first aid training is desirable.
- Instructor certification from an accredited first aid programme is desirable.
- Experience delivering HEAT, HEIST, SSAFE or equivalent training is desirable.
- Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO (INGO) in safety and security is desirable.
- Proficiency in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) is required.
- Confirmed availability to travel for up to 50% of the time is desirable.
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence is required.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
