Apply to participate in 5-days Media Workshop on Wildlife and Conservation Reporting in East Africa!

Earth Journalism Network will host this workshop at a venue in Fort Portal, mid-western Uganda.

During the workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding of conservation efforts in the region and learn how researchers, Indigenous groups, local communities, and policymakers are protecting their ecosystems and addressing threats.

This workshop is part of EJN’s East Africa Wildlife Journalism project, supported by a joint grant from the US Department of Interior and the US Agency for International Development. EJN will bear the travel, accommodation, and meal costs of selected participants.

What is included in the Media Worksop?

Participants will engage in a combination of classroom-style study and field visits to select national parks, forest reserves, and other areas to learn more about habitat restoration efforts and conservation solutions.

They’ll also meet with experts to discuss the impacts of deforestation, land degradation, and the climate crisis.

In addition, participants will engage in hands-on capacity-building sessions to develop their skills in mobile journalism, multimedia journalism, solutions journalism, and data journalism, as well as learn how to improve their story pitches.
