Applications are opened for the British Council LTTS Scholarship Program in the UK. Interested candidates can apply until 1st July 2020. The scholarship program is: The Languages Teacher Training Scholarships

  • The Languages Teacher Training Scholarships are for the high-caliber graduates who will commence an eligible teacher training course in England in the 2020/21 academic year.
  • Courses should be completed through an approved provider and lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Furthermore, applicants should also hold UK or EU student status and meet student finance support criteria.

Benefits of the Program

The selected candidates will receive the following advantages from the British Council Scholarship Program

The Department for Education (DfE), launches this prestigious program and  offers a range of benefits to successful applicants including

  • A tax-free scholarship of £28,000 while the candidates training to teach French, German or Spanish at secondary level in England
  • Also, a further £6,000 after tax once in teaching (paid over three years)
  • Similarly, access to a range of professional development opportunities and resources, including webinars for distance-based training for your Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and membership to the Association for Language Learning (ALL) for your training year
  • In addition to that, networking opportunities with their fellow scholars and teaching professionals, including attendance at conferences and events with cultural institutions in the UK
  • Also, good language teachers are in demand. As a language teacher, the candidates can use their languages and share their cultural insights every day.
  • Additionally, they will play a part in equipping the next generation with the skills employers need.
  • Furthermore, they take a step towards inspiring a new generation of young people to love languages as much as they do.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible to apply, the candidates must have a minimum of a 2:1 in a French, German or Spanish degree.
  • They will also consider if the applicants have a 2:1 degree in a different subject and can demonstrate excellent language skills and significant cultural knowledge
  • Also, the organizers will consider if the candidates have a 2:2, or predicted 2:2 degree in the language, a relevant Ph.D. or master’s degree, or recognized equivalent and substantial relevant experience,
  • Moreover, the candidates must be able to demonstrate their interests and experiences with clear examples
  • Furthermore, the applicants  should hold UK or EU student status, and meet the student finance support criteria
