British Council Research Fellowships at University of Edinburgh in UK 2024-25

The British Council is marking its 90th anniversary with the launch of the British Council Research Fellowships 2024 at the University of Edinburgh, open to all nationalities. This fellowship, in partnership with IASH, offers a unique opportunity for postdoctoral researchers to contribute to UK research and skills development. Two 12-month British Council fellowships, beginning in January 2025, will be awarded. During the initial ten months, fellows will be based at IASH, University of Edinburgh, then spend the remaining two months in their home countries, partnering with the British Council. Eligibility for British Council Research Fellowships

  • These fellowships in UK target early-career researchers who have completed their PhD within the past seven years.
  • Applicants should be based in an ODA (Official Development Assistance) recipient country where the British Council operates.
  • Moreover, fellows must possess the qualifications necessary to conduct postdoctoral research during the fellowship.
  • All applicants must check the subject focus and meet the thematic requirements to be eligible for the British Council 90th Anniversary Research Fellowship.
  • The fellowship will focus on priority areas within Arts, Education, and English language outlined in the British Council strategy.
