There is an application call for Fellowships at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. The deadline for the application is 15th August 2020. The fellowship is for a Ph.D. degree in the field of Epigenetics.

Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen is offering a Ph.D. scholarship in Epigenetics commencing 1 January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Project description

The University is looking for an exceptionally motivated Ph.D. student to elucidate the effects of epigenetic signaling during long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcription on “genomic punctuation”.

Additionally, the project operates at the interface between the research areas of epigenetics, RNA biology, RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription, and genomics. Furthermore, you will be based in the laboratory of Sebastian Marquardt, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and visit the laboratory of Steve Jacobsen, University California Los Angeles, USA, to perform part of your project.

Eligibility 

  • Applicants should hold an MSc degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or related fields with very good results and good English skills.
  • Additionally, as criteria for the assessment of your qualifications, the University will lay emphasis on previous publications (if any) and relevant work experience, particularly in the area of NGS data analysis.

Value of Scholarship

  • Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Furthermore, the starting salary is currently at a minimum DKK 331,125 (approx. EUR 43,750) Also, annual supplement (plus pension at a minimum DKK 53,811). Negotiation for a salary supplement is possible.
