Apply for the Cardiff Metropolitan University Elite Sport Scholar Award 2020. The deadline for the application is 1st August 2020.

The Elite Sport Scholar Award is designed for undergraduate, postgraduate and international students that excel in sport (including performance and/or coaching). Additionally, the award is based upon a combination of academic merit and sporting achievements.


Students who are successful in their application for the award will receive a package of scholarship benefits worth approximately £5,000 that includes:

  • £1,000 discount from their program tuition fees
  • Also, access to excellent facilities
  • Similarly, strength and conditioning support from UKSCA accredited staff
  • Also, sports science support, including nutrition, psychology, physiology, biomechanics
  • Sports medicine, including physiotherapy massage
  • Additionally, active yoga and recovery sessions
  • Furthermore, performance workshops


To be eligible for a scholarship, athletes must:

  • be studying, or about to commence studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University (any course);
  • Also, be competing in a recognized British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) sport and contribute to the University’s BUCs objectives;
  • Likewise, be competing at an international level, or must be performing towards the highest level in their sport (e.g. national/international/professional);
  • Furthermore, be recommended by their NGB coach and/or the University’s coach in their sport.


Cardiff Metropolitan University, formerly University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, Prifysgol Athrofâu Cymru, Caerdydd is a university which is one of three non-Russell group universities located in the city of Cardiff. In the 2016/17 academic year, the university has just under 11,000 students.
