European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) offers EMBO long-term fellowship to candidates who seek to pursue research in the areas of Molecular Biology. EMBO offers this fellowship to postdoc candidates from all around the world.

EMBO is an internationally recognized organization, that leads researches on several large scale projects. The organization aims to facilitate researches in Life Science while promoting the quality of research. Hence, EMBO also recruits researchers from all over the world, providing the organization with a wide range of skilled researchers. Moreover, an average of 600 researchers applies for a fellowship at research organization per evaluation deadline. However, with the success rate for EMBO fellowship being 15%, only a few fellows get the opportunity to continue their research at EMBO.

Who is eligible for EMBO Molecular Biology Fellowship?

EMBO long-term fellowship are available to Molecular biologist who has recently completed their doctoral degree. Moreover, to be eligible, the candidates must:

  • Hold a doctorate degree or equivalent at the start of the fellowship.
  • Applicants who already hold a PhD degree at the time of application are eligible to apply only if they obtained their PhD degree during the two years prior to the date the application is complete.
  • Applicants must have at least one first author publication accepted in or published in an international peer-reviewed journal at the time of application.
  • All applications must involve movement between countries (detailed information about mobility requirements is listed in guidelines).
  • Applicants may not go to the country in which they obtain the PhD degree.
  • Nor can the applicants return to a laboratory where they worked in the past for more than six months.
  • Applications for a Long-Term Fellowship to be held in the laboratory, institute or department in which the candidate worked to obtain his or her PhD, or to work again with the candidate’s supervisor, no matter where the latter is located, will not be considered.
  • Candidates who have already started working in the host laboratory can apply only if they have been working in the host laboratory for less than six months at the time the application is complete.
  • Candidates can only submit one application for one project at one host laboratory at each round of selection.
  • Reapplication is permissible only once.

How to Apply for EMBO Molecular Biology Fellowship?

To apply for Long-term EMBO Fellowship in Molecular Biology, the applicants must submit an application via the online application system. Along with the online application, the candidates must also submit the supporting documentation online. The supporting documentation includes two letters of references and the receiving institute acceptance.

Deadline

European Molecular Biology Organization receives the long-term fellowship application throughout the year. Since a large number of Postdoc scientists and researchers apply for the EMBO fellowship during the open application, the success rate is only 15%. Hence, one may apply for the fellowship at their convenience.

Furthermore, even though EMBO receives the application throughout the year, it evaluates the application only twice the year. Applicants may submit an application for the approaching deadline of August 2, 2019.
