APA’s Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy ENRE Division announce its Student Fellowship Program for second-year planning graduate students. The aim of this fellowship is to provide financial support for a student interested and excelling in graduate-level studies in planning related to natural resources, energy or the environment.

ENRE Division Student Fellowship

The American Planning Association (APA) will provide the successful candidate of the ENRE Division fellowship with an amount of $1,500 for the 2019-20 School Calendar Year. Moreover, the APA will distribute the award in two amounts of $750 each at the end of each semester. Further, the candidates will have the responsibility to maintain the course of study identified in their application. As well as the candidates should achieve a GPA of B or greater in both the semesters. The recipient also must summarize his or her project for publication in the ENRE Division’s newsletter.

Who is eligible for the ENRE Student Fellowship?

APA will consider the candidates eligible for the ENRE Fellowship if they meet the following criteria:

  • Second-year or higher graduate student (master’s level only) in a planning or planning-related program focusing on issues related to the environment, natural resources, or energy. The student may be a full or part-time student.
  • Candidates should have APA student membership and ENRE Division membership prior to submitting the fellowship application.
  • Further, the candidates should maintain a GPA: B or above (Minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
  • Studies focused on issues related to the environment, natural resources, sustainability, or energy, and pursuing a program or course of study consistent with the Division’s mission.

How to apply for the ENRE Division Student Fellowship?

To apply for the ENRE Fellowship, the candidates should complete the application form as well as provide required documentation necessary for the assessment. The documentation the candidates must provide should include:

  1. ENRE Fellowship Application
  2. Recommendation letter from thesis/project faculty advisor
  3. Description of the master’s thesis or project, including how it relates to the Division’s mission (800-word maximum)
  4. Essay describing the interest in environmental planning, experience (extra-curricular activities may be included), and future career goals (600-word maximum)
  5. CV or resume
  6. Copy of student’s transcript for the previous year showing a GPA of B or greater (minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale).

Deadline

APA will accept the application for the ENRE Division Student Fellowship program 2019-2020 until 27 September 2019.
