Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is available for the Joint Master Degree program. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society Plus (EMJMD ACES+) will give you a unique opportunity to study in up to four centers of European excellence in aquaculture research and learning; Scotland, Crete, France, and the Netherlands. It will also allow you to gain the practical and theoretical skills needed for a successful career in aquaculture through industry-led research programs, internships, and fieldwork.

Applications are also welcome for MOWI (Marine Harvest Scotland Ltd) and SAIC (Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre) scholarships.

Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree

The fully funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree scholarship covers your participation costs.  This includes the tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, full insurance coverage as well as any other mandatory costs related to your participation in the Master. It represents a contribution to your travel and installation costs and includes a monthly subsistence allowance for the entire duration of the study program.

The total amount of the scholarship varies according to the duration of your course and your nationality (non-EU students receive larger scholarships). A minimum of 75% of the scholarships is available to candidates from Partner countries.

Eligibility for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree

Candidates eligible for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree must have:

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent; second class or higher at Honours level) in one of the fields of biological or environmental sciences.  Moreover, an appropriate background could include; aquaculture-related studies, marine science and/or resources, aquatic biology, biology, or environmental sciences linked to the field of marine science and fisheries;
  • For non-UK students, a Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS) certificate.

How to apply for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree

To apply for a place on the next intake (2020-2022) for the Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree program, applicants will need to complete in full two application forms. These include the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and ACES application form. Further, if the candidate is eligible to apply for a SAIC scholarship, please ensure you complete the scholarship form as well.

Candidates must email the completed forms along with all supporting documents as a single PDF file. Supporting documents include your CV, professional reference letter, copy of your degree certificates and transcripts (with certified translations in English where applicable), main passport page as well as evidence of English language proficiency.

The email should constitute:

  1. Completed EMJMD ACES+ application form (in Microsoft Word) in English. Moreover, it should include a 350-word motivation (or personal) statement and 350-word statement giving information or examples of your previous experience in the field of aquaculture;
  2. Completed UHI International application form (applicable to ALL students, including European). Please note, for the section on ‘Course Details’ please insert UHI-SAMS. Also, leave blank the ‘Personal Statement’ as this information collected in your EMJMD ACES+ application form, as above;
  3. Curriculum vitae (CV) in freestyle format;
  4. A professional reference (of 500-800 words)
  5. Copy of your passport;
  6. Likewise, a copy of your degree certificate (plus certified translation into English if applicable);
  7. Further, a copy of your transcript of marks (plus certified translation into English if applicable);
  8. Also, a copy of your Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS) certificate, which is valid until the end of Sept 2020. You must achieve an overall score of 6.5 in your IELTS test.

Deadline

Candidates can submit the application for the Fully Funded Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Joint Master Degree until 14 February 2020. Applications arriving after the deadline are ineligible for the scholarship.
