KAS Media Africa is once again calling for suitably qualified African journalists to apply for a scholarship. It is for a postgraduate Journalism degree at the prestigious University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. If you are a young African journalist eager to pursue further study. Also, take your career to the next level, you have until 8 July 2019 to get your application in. Further, KAS Media Africa is offering university scholarships for two promising, young sub-Saharan African journalists. It is to do full-time Honours or Masters Degrees at the University of Witwatersrand’s Journalism Programme in Johannesburg in 2020. Further, Freedom, justice, and solidarity are the basic principles underlying the work of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), a political foundation closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany.

Moreover, They encourage people to lend a hand in shaping the future along these lines. With about 80 offices abroad and projects in over 100 countries, we make a unique contribution to the promotion of democracy, the rule of law and a social market economy. Further, To foster peace and freedom we encourage a continuous dialogue at the national and international levels as well as the exchange between cultures and religions.

Eligibility

  • Candidates should be under 30 years old, working as a journalist in a sub-Saharan African country and fluent in English.
  • For Honours, candidates must have at least three years’ working experience and either an undergraduate degree or pass an entrance test.
  • For Masters, candidates must have a degree equivalent to the BA Honours in Journalism (or related field) and at least three years’ working experience.
  • Candidates must work closely with KAS Media Africa during their stay in Johannesburg and write regular narrative reports on their study progress.

Applicants need to submit:

  • A motivation letter
  • A CV
  • Two samples of published writing/broadcast clips
  • Two letters of nomination/reference by a senior journalist, publisher or academic
