Marshall Scholarships finance young students of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom in a system of higher education recognized for its excellence. Founded by a 1953 Act of Parliament, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and commemorate the humane ideals of the Marshall Plan conceived by General George C Marshall funds the Marshall Scholarships. They express the continuing gratitude of the British people to their American counterparts. As such, King’s College London is accepting applications for fully funded 2020 Marshall Scholarships.

The objectives of the Marshall Scholarships are:

  • To enable intellectually distinguished young Americans, their country’s future leaders, to study in the UK.
  • Further, it helps Scholars gain an understanding and appreciation of contemporary Britain.
  • Likewise, it contributes to the advancement of knowledge in science, technology, the humanities, and social sciences and the creative arts at Britain’s centres of academic excellence.
  • It also motivates Scholars to act as ambassadors from the USA to the UK and vice versa throughout their lives thus strengthening British American understanding.
  • As well as it promotes the personal and academic fulfillment of each Scholar.

As future leaders, with a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American peoples, their governments and their institutions. Moreover, Marshall Scholars are talented, independent and wide-ranging, and their time as Scholars enhances their intellectual and personal growth. Their direct engagement with Britain through its best academic programs contributes to their ultimate personal success. Moreover, Marshall Scholarship is generally tenable for one or two academic years.

Fully Funded Marshall Scholarships 2020 at King’s College London

The total value of a fully funded Marshall Scholarship varies according to the circumstances considering the place of residence, selected university, etc. of each Scholar. Moreover, the figure tends on average to be about £38,000 a year. This comprises:

  • a personal allowance to cover residence and cost of living expenses at the rate of £1084 per month (£1,330 for Scholars at Central London institutions);
  • Further, payment of tuition fees;
  • fares to and from the United States;
  • Also, claimable allowances totaling approximately £3,300

Eligibility for the fully funded Marshall Scholarships

To be eligible for a 2020 Marshall Scholarship, candidates must:

  • be citizens of the United States of America (at the time they apply for a scholarship);
  • (by the time they take up their scholarship ie September 2020) hold their first undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States;
  • have obtained a grade point average of not less than 3.7 on their undergraduate degree. (Applicants must have a GPA of 3.7 at the time of application). Moreover, we do not accept rounded GPA’s.
  • have graduated from their first undergraduate college or university after April 2017.
  • nor have studied for, or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British University or GCSE or A Levels taken at school in the UK.

How to apply Marshall Scholarship?

To apply for a Marshall Scholarship, an eligible candidate must fill out the online application form. The application form is available at the Marshall Scholarship website. Only, a completed application is valid for scholarship consideration. A completed application requires candidates to fill out all the details in the form.

After completing the online application, the candidates will submit it to their undergraduate institution for endorsement. The institution will add an additional endorsement letter before forwarding the final application. However, one should note that an undergraduate institution may only endorse up to 24 students.

Deadline

The deadline to submit an application for the fully funded Marshall Scholarships is until 30 September 2019. After the deadline, the application is considered invalid.
