The Mo Ibrahim Foundation in association with SOAS and the Centre of African Studies-University of London is organizing a one-week fully funded Residential School on the topic of ‘Governance and Development in Africa’. This initiative aims to contribute to as well as stimulate debate on governance, development, and the relationship between them. Each year, the foundation selects participants from a range of African countries, and representative of the academic, civil society and government sectors for the residential school.

The residential school is for 20 participants who are policymakers, academics, researchers or civil society representatives from any African country who will gain, through this training, new ideas and knowledge on the broad issue of governance and development. The foundation invites applications from a wide range of backgrounds

Fully Funded Mo Ibrahim Residential School Program

Mo Ibrahim Foundation will cover all the cost of the candidates selected for the fully funded Residential School program. These costs include airfare, visa costs, accommodation, as well as meal.

Eligibility for the Mo Ibrahim Residential School Program

An applicant who is eligible to apply for the Residential School Program should have a profile that matches the following requirements:

  • Applicants should have at least an MSc degree in areas related to Governance; or
  • have 5 years of professional experiences in fields relevant to the theme of Governance and Development in Africa.
  • Applicants should be an African Nationality
  • Proficiency in the English Language (both Written and Spoken)

How to apply for the Mo Ibrahim Residential School Program?

Applicants will require to complete and submit the online application form in order to apply for the Mo Ibrahim Residential School Program. The online applications should further include:

  1. 2-page max CV (including an email address for correspondence)
  2. One reference letter (emailed directly by the referee to [email protected])
  3. Proposal of max 1000 words outlining research interest and/or professional background. Also, the applicants should highlight how they will benefit from attending the Residential School.

Deadline

The deadline to apply for the fully funded 2020 Mo Ibrahim Residential School Program is until 30 November 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are not eligible for the program.
