Applications call for Postdoctoral Scholar Program at Pennsylvania State University

Pennsylvania State University is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral candidate to join the Intelligent Information Systems Laboratory at the College of Information Sciences and Technology. The position is available immediately or in the near future. The researcher will involve in pursuing research and mentoring students in a project focusing on personal health libraries for consumers and patients, and recommendation systems. The project involves research on digital libraries, natural language processing, information retrieval, knowledge extraction and knowledge graphs, indexing and mining from text and images, mediated information integration, database systems and ontology-based inter-operation, social network analysis, and knowledge management in the area of health informatics.

Position Summary

The position does fully focus on research with no expectation of teaching. The objective of this position is to enhance the researcher’s skills and record for placement in a leading university or research laboratory at the end of the post-doctoral fellowship (typically one to two years). In order to be eligible for this Postdoctoral Scholar Program at Pennsylvania State University, candidates must

  • Possess strong prior experience in software development and the ability to design and perform experiments to validate research hypotheses.
  • Have demonstrated strong written communication skills.
  • B self-directed and have the ability and willingness to mentor Ph.D. students working in the project.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related area.
  • A strong record of technical excellence and achievement as demonstrated through publications, presentations at national and international meetings
  • Research in relevant disciplines such as medical informatics, digital libraries, data and text mining, information retrieval, information extraction, information integration, database systems, web information systems, machine learning, natural language processing, etc.
