• Scholarship students can register for either the Chinese-medium program or English-medium program if applicable.

Eligibility Required for Chinese Government Scholarships

• Applicants must be foreign non-Chinese citizens from all over the world and in good health.

• Applicants for a doctoral degree program must be under 40 years old and must possess a Master’s degree.
• If you are applying for any of the Chinese-medium programs, you should have at least an HSK level four certificate (Chinese Proficiency Test) at the time of application.
• In case your native language is Chinese or if you can provide proof of studying at a previous institution where the teaching language is Chinese, can apply for an HSK test waiver for further approval from Wuhan University.
• Applicants of English-medium programs should provide a score report of the English Language test, either a TOEFL with 80 or IELTS with 5.5.

Application Details of Chinese Government Scholarships

Interested applicants must register and submit their application online using the CSC Online Application System for International Students. You must use the Wuhan University code (10486) during the application and choose Program category type B which refers to scholarship programs responsible by Chinese universities under the Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program

Applicants must then register and submit another online application at Wuhan University using the Online Application System for International Students. Please choose sources of funds as the Chinese Government Program. You will need the following supporting documents

• An application form for the Chinese Government Scholarship (to be downloaded after completing your step 1 registration)
• Application Form for International Scholars and Students of Wuhan University (download after completing your step 2 registration)
• Certified/ Notarized diploma/ degree certificates and transcripts for your previous education
• You must include a Study Plan of up to 800 words written in either Chinese or in English.
• Applicants must request two recommendation letters from either professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English.
• Copy of valid ordinary passport for the personal information page, valid for up to at least Dec. 31, 2022
• A criminal record form/ certificate.
• Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form, filled in English or Chinese.
• You must include a copy of your valid HSK certificate if you are applying for a Chinese-medium program.
• A valid English proficiency certificate for the English-medium program, either TOEFL or IELTS.
