Applications are open for the Funded Scholarship at Curtin University 2019. This project investigates the use of a bio-assisted method (or bio-cementation) for preventing early damage. Especially,  in pavements, aiming at avoiding the greatly reduced pavement lifetime due to insufficient curing time. The PhD candidate will work on this project with Associate Professor Mohamed Shahin as part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Research Hub for Smart Next Generation Transport Pavements. similarly,  The successful candidate shall receive a stipend valued at $27,596 per annum, tax-free. The duration of the scholarship is three years with a possible extension of up to six months. Further,  providing that the student meets eligibility guidelines as per the conditions of the award. If the successful candidate is an international student, the scholarship will cover tuition fees offset for the duration of the award.

Moreover, Curtin University (formerly known as the Curtin University of Technology and Western Australian Institute of Technology) is an Australian public research university based in Bentley and Perth, Western Australia. Further, It is named after the 14th Prime Minister of Australia, John Curtin, and is the largest university in Western Australia, with over 58,000 students (as of 2016).

Adding on, Curtin was conferred university status after legislation was passed by the Parliament of Western Australia in 1986. Since then, the university has been expanding its presence and has campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, and Mauritius. Also,  It has ties with 90 exchange universities in 20 countries.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor degree (H1 or First Class Honours) in Civil Engineering or related fields
  • English language proficiency (refer to the English language requirements in Curtin University website)
