The University of Edinburgh calls applications for the Informatics Global Scholarships for 2020. Interested candidates can apply until 7th February 2020. The scholarship is for the Ph.D. degree in the field of Information Engineering. The University of Edinburgh funds the scholarship.

The University of Edinburgh founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities. Furthermore, the University of Edinburgh is ranked 20th in the world by the 2020 QS World University Rankings. It is ranked as the 6th best university in Europe by the U.S. News’ Best Global Universities Ranking, and 7th best in Europe by the Times Higher Education Ranking. Also, the Research Excellence Framework, a research ranking used by the UK government to determine future research funding, ranked Edinburgh 4th in the UK for research power, and 11th overall. It is ranked the 48th most employable university in the world by the 2020 Global Employability University Ranking.

Eligibility

The candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements for the Informatics Global Scholarships 2020.

  • The students of all nationalities can apply for the program.
  • Also, they must have a strong academic track record at undergraduate or Masters level
  • Additionally, the students must be planning to start a Ph.D. in the School of Informatics from September 2020.
  • Furthermore, the applicants should meet the English language requirements.

Value of the scholarship

The successful candidates will receive the following benefits from the scholarship

  • They will receive full funding of all tuition fees.
  • Also, a stipend of 15,226 pounds per year
  • Furthermore, the candidates will get additional research support funds of 2,000 pounds per year for the first three years.

Selection Procedure

  • The selected research institute will review the applicants who meet the eligibility requirements
  • This will normally involve an interview, which may take place in person or via video conference.
  • Moreover, the successful candidates will receive notification of their scholarship, which may be conditional on candidates achieving the predicted qualifications.
