The Kochi University of Technology (KUT) established the Special Scholarship Program (SSP) in 2003 in order to support the development of advanced research at the university through the contribution of highly capable doctoral students. Through the 3-year curriculum, KUT provides a comprehensive education in the multidisciplinary environment. Every year, KUT enrolls approximately 15 selected doctoral students to work in specific research projects in Japan. Each student pursues a doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting his/her host professor in his/her research projects and receiving a monthly payment in return for his/her contribution to the projects.
Kochi Univerity of Technology will provide the successful doctoral candidates with the fully funded scholarship which covers the tuition fee as well as provide living expenses. Moreover, the candidates will receive:

Before submitting a formal application, candidates intending to apply must send a completed Pre-Application Request to the leader of his/her preferred SSP project. The leader will assess the application form. Only individuals who have obtained the permission of the leader of their preferred project are eligible to formally apply to the SSP program.
Candidates may apply for the Doctoral Scholarship after obtaining the permission of the project leader. Moreover, the candidates will require to complete the application and provide the required documents to the Kochi University of Technology by post. Further, the documents must reach KUT by the deadline.
The Kochi University of Technology will accept the application form for the Doctoral Scholarship until 13 September 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are invalid.
