Apply for the May and Romeo Schiavon Journalism Fund – Schiavon International Scholarship. The deadline for the application is 21st September 2020. The University of Melbourne is providing scholarships for bachelors, Masters degrees.

This scholarship for students in the 150-point or 200-point Master of Journalism programs at the University of Melbourne. Additionally, the scholarship supports the development of a piece of journalism in any format.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be enrolled or enrolling in the 150-point or 200-point Master of Journalism programs at the University of Melbourne

Recipients must

  • accept the award online within 21 days
  • Also, provide a progress report mid-way through the program which must meet the satisfaction of the committee for payments to continue
  • Likewise, submit a final report

Benefits

The University will offer one or more annual scholarships from the total amount of $20,000.

Application

Complete the online application form and upload the following supporting documents:

  • Project proposal of up to 400 words for a major piece of journalism in any format, which is achievable and is able to be published in The Citizen and possibly co-published with other media outlets
  • Also, a statement of up to 100 words outlining the applicant’s journalistic ambitions and how they are exploring opportunities in the profession
  • Additionally, a budget listing project expenses, if relevant
  • Likewise, a portfolio of published or unpublished journalism that demonstrates the applicant’s abilities

Furthermore, if applicants would like feedback on their application, they should email [email protected] at least two weeks prior to the closing date.
