MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025 (Embassy Applications)
Applications are now open for the MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025 (Embassy Recommendation), a fully funded opportunity for international students to study in Japan under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) reports 231,146 international students were in Japan in 2022, with 8,924 on a Japanese Government Fund. If you’re interested in Graduate Programs, you can apply for the MEXT Scholarship for Masters and PhD through your country’s Japanese Embassy. Remember, direct applications to MEXT in Japan are not accepted. Details on the application process, requirements, and benefits are provided below.

Scholarship Duration for MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025
The scholarship period will last for five years from April 2025 to March 2030, including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects.
Six years for those majoring in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or in a six-year course in pharmacy)

Conditions and Eligibility Criteria of MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2025
- An applicant should not be a Japanese Nationality holder.
- Applicants, in principle, must be born on or after April 2, 2000.
- Below must be 18 years of age or older at the time of admission to a university in Japan. (Exceptions are limited)
- Applicants who have completed 12 years of schooling.
- Applicants who meet the above qualification by March 2025 are eligible
- Applicant must be able to arrive in Japan between April 1, 2025, and April 7, 2025
