Details

The University of Edinburgh calls applications for the Muriel Smith Scholarships for 2020. Interested candidates can apply until 2nd May 2020. The scholarship is for Masters degree in the field of Literature, Languages, Culture studies.

Eligibility

The candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Muriel Smith Scholarships

  • The applicants must be females from a country outside of the UK or EU.
  • Also, they must apply to the Postgraduate program at the School of Literature, Language, and Culture.
  • Furthermore, the Ph.D. students are not eligible for the Muriel Smith Postgraduate Scholarship. Applicants to the following degree programs are eligible:
  • Masters by Research (MScR) French Studies or Hispanic (Peninsular Spanish) Studies
  • as well as MSc Translation Studies, specializing in French or Spanish

Value of the Scholarship

  • The applicants will receive a wave in tuition fees for a maximum of one year at the Home/EU rate for the chosen Masters program of study
  • The scholarship is partial-funding and has a value of up to a maximum of 10,100 pounds.
  • Furthermore, successful Overseas applicants will be liable for the difference between the Home/EU and Overseas fees rates.

Selection Procedure

  • The candidates will receive the award on the basis of academic merit.
  • Additionally, the Head of the Department of European Languages and Cultures will judge the candidates.
  • Furthermore, the University will notify the successful candidate of the award in June.
