Paid PhD Program on Biomolecular Technology in Austria. The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna invites prominent, energetic and enthusiastic applicants from all over to apply for the Fully-funded PhD Program “Biomolecular Technology of Proteins (BioToP)” in Austria.

Funding/Benefits

This is the paid Ph.D. position. Ph.D. students at the BioToP Ph.D. program will have regular employment with full social security coverage. In addition to that, students will receive funding according to the salary scheme of the Austrian Science Fund (net annual income after deduction of tax and social insurance approx. € 26.000,–). The salary is guaranteed for the proposed 3-year duration of the thesis work.

Furthermore, students will receive financial support for participation at international conferences and for research stays abroad in collaborating international institutions.

Eligibilities

Candidates must have the following qualifications to apply for this Paid PhD Program in Austria.

  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a master (corresponding to 300 ECTS) which would qualify them to start a Ph.D. thesis in their home country.
  • However, candidates whose completion date of a master’s degree by the ends of August 2020 can also apply. But applicants with only a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or similar are not eligible.
  • There is no strict age limit, however, applicants should not be older than 30 years by the time applying for BioToP. In case there are special circumstances, candidates must please specify them.
  • Ph.D. students applying for a wet-lab research project must have a master’s degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, medicine or closely related subjects. The corresponding curriculum and the diploma or master thesis have to include experimental investigations in one of these fields.
  • Ph.D. students applying for a dry-lab research project must have a master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline. The corresponding curriculum and the diploma or master thesis have to bear evidence of modeling or data analysis work.
  • Furthermore, applicants must be fluent in both spoken and written English.

Application 

Interested candidates must submit an application form. Candidate must complete the Application Form and send it together with all enclosures by Email to biotop(at)boku.ac.at.

Along with an application form, candidates must also submit the copy of the following documents

  • Diploma or master certificate (if already available).
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate.
  • Certificates obtained for coursework including grades (transcript of records of bachelor and master studies).
  • Valid passport.

In addition to that, candidates must also submit letters of recommendation from two scientists. The referees must hold an institutional Email address. Applicants must forward the Evaluation Form to the referees and ask them to send the completed form directly to the BioToP Ph.D. Program office by Email (biotop(at)boku.ac.at).
