System Neuroscience PhD Scholarship is available at Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences (SILS), in the University of Amsterdam. The research institute aims to unravel the development of cortical microcircuits during early brain development. Moreover, the project will focus on the investigation of the neural development of multisensory interactions as well as modality specification in the ferret. Further, the candidates should conduct the research using techniques such as deep electrodes and cortical high-density electrode recordings from visual and auditory cortex. The main objective of the project is to reveal the development of functional micro-architectures of cortico-cortical integration.
The PhD candidates will work on a full-time basis (38 hours per week). Hence, the University of Amsterdam will provide the scholarship stipend amounting to €2,325 in the first year. Further, the scholarship is subjected to rise to an amount of €2,972 in the fourth and fifth year.
