Summary of Job Duties

The Post Doctoral Fellow will conduct research on a project titled “Integrated Process Optimization for Biochemical Conversion”. The goal of the project is to develop analytical tools to enable a biorefinery to identify an optimal integrated process design that ensures reliable, cost-effective, sustainable, robust, and continuous feeding of biomass feedstocks. This project is conducted in collaboration with the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Academic research track record in optimization, stochastic and statistical models

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Possess knowledge of algorithm development, optimization, economic decision analysis, database programming, machine learning, and analytics.
  • Knowledge of C++ or related programming language.
  • A strong background in mathematical modeling, stochastic programming, heuristic development, and strong programming skills.
  • Proficient skills in both written and spoken English is required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
