Applications call for Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of South Florida in the United States of America. The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a Postdoctoral Scholar position to join the seismology group. This is a full-time 12-month position with a starting date expected no later than January 4th, 2021. Initial funding is for one year with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years. Health benefits will be offered through the USF Postdoctoral Scholar health insurance program.
Moreover, the selected candidate will join the seismology group to work on the project “Improving Small Event Characterization and Determination of Moment Tensor Uncertainties.” The Postdoctoral Scholar will work with a large dataset of broadband seismic waveforms from the Middle East. Basically, the research will focus on full seismic moment tensor determination of small-to-moderate sized events with the goal to improve methods that include realistic estimates of moment tensor uncertainties and parameter trade-offs.
Candidates on this Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of South Florida will have the following qualifications
The project is computationally intensive, and part of the analyses will be conducted using the High-Performance Computing facilities at USF and other partner institutions such as the lead collaborator, the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
