Brown University invites applications for a one-year Diversity in Digital Publishing Postdoctoral Research Associate appointment.

As a member of Brown’s Center for Digital Scholarship, the postdoctoral fellow will work as part of a multi-skilled team of experts to advance a set of public-facing faculty digital publications currently under development as part of the Mellon-supported Digital Publications Initiative.

The fellow may play a role in the planning of a lecture series and other events designed to increase awareness of diverse scholarly voices. Approximately one-third of the fellowship period would be devoted to the fellow’s own digital scholarship.

Eligibility

Scholars who have received their degrees within the last five years and pursue work in the humanities and the humanistic social sciences are eligible to apply.

Benefits

The one-year position provides a $60,000 stipend along with benefits as well as $5,000 in research/professional development funding.

Priority in the review process will be for applicants who

  • demonstrate evidence of superior academic achievement and whose scholarly interests and work are relevant to the projects under development
  • demonstrate a commitment to diversity as well as an understanding of the contributions a diverse workforce brings to the workplace
  • In addition, demonstrate a strong understanding of how to expand opportunities and create diverse and inclusive classroom and research spaces
  • demonstrate an interest in communicating humanities scholarship to non-specialist audiences
  • Also, demonstrate experience working on digital humanities projects and familiarity with digital humanities tools and methods
  • Moreover, demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, as well as interpersonal skills

Applicants should submit the following materials:

  • A cover letter stating the applicant’s academic field and describing their teaching experience and interests. This should include a statement about teaching in a diverse and inclusive classroom, and their research agenda/project to be advanced during the fellowship period.
  • A curriculum vitae
  • Also a dissertation abstract
  • In addition, three letters of recommendation. Referees should submit letters directly through Interfolio, which will supply a link when applicants enter contact information.
