Applications are open for Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States of America. The position serves to complement the principal investigators of a federally funded project to successfully conduct the proposed in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro experiments.

The main goal of the project is to determine the effects of inflammatory pathways on the cardiovascular system and cardiomyocytes at a physiological and molecular signaling level. As part of the postdoctoral training and the mentored professional growth, the successful candidate will be invited to write post-doctoral grant proposals as a principal investigator, write manuscripts and participate in writing review articles.

Requirements

In order to be eligible for this Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University, candidates must have the following qualifications

  • Experience working with mice, cell-based assays, and common laboratory assays, such as protein and nucleic acid extraction, Western blotting, PCR, qPCR, microscopy, and immunological assays, such as IF, IHC and ELISA.
  • In addition, the position requires the ability to take good care of laboratory equipment and space, manage supplies, participate in the ordering of reagents and consumables, coordinate the use of the laboratory space and instrumentation, and maintain organized storage of the biological samples. Sample processing includes, but is not limited to, plasma isolation from blood, tissue sample fixation, and embedding in paraffin.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a diverse work environment.
