The main purpose of the Award is to provide support for a high achieving student Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy graduate who has subsequently enrolled in further postgraduate study in Philosophy at the University of Auckland.

Eligibility for Scholarships at the University of Auckland

  • The University will give the Award to a student who enrolls full-time in a Master of Arts (MA) or Ph.D. in Philosophy, who has previously completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (BA(Hons)) degree at the University of Auckland.
  • Additionally, the Professor Robert Solomon Memorial Award is tenable by domestic and international students.
  • Furthermore, the basis of selection will be academic merit by the grade point average (GPA) calculated over all BA (Hons) courses. Also, the quality and philosophical potential, evident in the applicant’s coursework in those courses.
  • Additionally, in the case of Ph.D. students, the Selection Committee may also consider coursework in an MA program in Philosophy.

Value of  Scholarship

  • One Professor Robert Solomon Memorial Award is annual and will be of the value of NZD 1,500.
