Applications are open for Research Fellowship at Pomona College in Los Angeles, California, Pomona College. This position would participate in Harvard Evidence for Policy Design (EPOD) associated events as necessary. This specific fellowship will be under the direction of Professor Tahir Andrabi, who is the Stedman-Sumner Professor of Economics at Pomona College. Professor Andrabi is a co-Principal Investigator (with Jishnu Das of Georgetown University and Asim Ijaz Khwaja of Harvard Kennedy School) of the multi-year DFID-funded Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) project in Pakistan.

The RISE program consists of a number of studies and activities examining the nature of frictions embedded in different parts of the Pakistani education system. The project works closely with the Pakistani government as well as public and private partners to ensure that research both informs education policy and is informed by existing policy in Pakistan. Responsibilities

Candidates on this Research Fellowship position at Pomona College must have the following role

• Clean and manage large datasets.
• Conduct statistical analyses of data using Stata.
• Prepare literature reviews, background research, and other draft content for grant proposals and academic papers.
• Draft project reports, research protocols, and other project documents.
• Oversee and coordinate field research activities when required.
• Travel to the field as needed (pending public health guidance and College travel policies.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Mathematics, Computer Science or Statistics or related field requiring substantial quantitative coursework required.

Required skills and Knowledge

• Strong academic record as well as a strong interest in public policy and economic development research.
• Strong English oral and written communication skills. Similarly, a strong command of Stata.
• Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel internationally (pending public health guidance and travel policies).
• Available to work full-time starting June or July 2021 (start time is flexible, but ASAP preferred).
