The University of British Columbia is a public research university with campuses in Vancouver and Kelowna, British Columbia. Established in 1908, UBC is British Columbia’s oldest university. Also, as an International applicant to any graduate program to UBC, you are required to have: A four-year undergraduate degree in the related discipline. University of British Columbia 2021 Rio Tinto Graduate Scholarship Program: As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and research, Rio Tinto offers an $18,000 graduate scholarship for a UBC graduate student in a field of pure or applied science related to Rio Tinto’s activities in mining.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a first year Master’s or first or second year Doctoral studies in 2020-2021 academic year. Also, the scholarship is non-renewable and students who received the scholarship in the past are not eligible to apply again.

Eligible Research Areas:

  • Aluminum metallurgy
  • Likewise, Electrolysis of molten salts
  • Hydrometallurgy
  • Similarly, Science of the environment
  • Additionally, analytical technologies
  • Moreover, Modeling and control systems
  • Data Science

The programs selection committee will consider any research projects in these areas.
