The University of Glasgow is a public research university in Glasgow, Scotland. Furthermore, founded by papal bull in 1451, it is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s four ancient universities. Also, along with the universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and St Andrews, the university was part of the Scottish Enlightenment during the 18th century. Also, the University of Glasgow is a major research-led university operating in an international context with the following fundamental aims: To provide education through the development of learning in a research environment. The Digital Society MSc aims to respond to the needs of this fast-changing environment, by preparing social scientists who can critically and effectively engage with the realities and challenges of the digital era.


Applicants must:

  • Hold a conditional or unconditional offer of a place for the University of Glasgow MSc Digital Society full-time postgraduate taught program for September 2021
  • Also, demonstrate academic excellence in a relevant field (sociology and other social sciences, digital sociology, digital media and culture).

Two full tuition waiver scholarships are available to support highly motivated and accomplished students joining the Digital Society MSc for the 2021-22 academic year.

Your personal statement must include:

  • Your full name, applicant number and clearly state that you are applying for the MSc Digital Society Tuition Fee Waiver
  • Also, why you have selected the program at the University of Glasgow
  • Likewise, why you merit the funded place (e.g. academic/personal achievement)
  • Moreover, how you will benefit from it (e.g. employment prospects, financial relief, etc).
