Shakespeare Scholarship aims doctoral candidates with an excellent university degree. Further, the candidates receiving the scholarship can demonstrate a conceptual connection between the research project. Moreover, the main focus of the graduate supporters is the early modern period in a broader sense, including the baroque as well as the processes of its reception and transformation to the present day. Interdisciplinary and comparative projects on theater, on Shakespeare and his contemporaries as well as on the tradition and recording of early modern times in Germany and above all in the Weimar Classical period are particularly welcome.
Klassik Stiftung Weimar in association with German Shakespeare foundation provides the scholarships for projects whose realization are ambitious.
The funding period is two to three months. Once a year, two fellowships will receive Shakespeare Scholarship amounting to 1,000 euros per month.
Committee members from Klassik Stiftung Weimar and Advisory Council of the Shakespeare Foundation determine the scholarship winners. However, there is no legal claim to a Shakespeare scholarship.
