Eligibility 

• Should take up an undergraduate degree program based in the Department of Statistical Science at UCL, i.e. be registered as a full-time student on one of the degree programs with UCAS codes G300, GN32, GLN0, GLR0, LG13, G305 at UCL.
• Also, hold UK/EU fee status  (overseas fee-paying students are not eligible).
• Additionally, achieve grade A* in Further Mathematics and grade A* in Mathematics at A-level by the end of August in the year of admission and/or achieve grade 1 or better on any Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP) test by the same deadline.

Value of Scholarship

The Statistical Science E. J. Gumbel Scholarship 2020 provides GBP 3,000 in three equal termly installments per year of study, and is tenable for the normal duration of the degree program studied as long as the following requirements are both satisfied:

• The recipient continues registration as a full-time student in the department.
• Likewise, the recipient demonstrates a good level of progress each year; in normal circumstances, which means achieve an average mark of at least 70% (equivalent to a First) at the end of each year of study.

Furthermore, the University will notify the successful candidates by the end of September in the year of admission.
