Teaching Fellowship in Literature or Applied Linguistics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). The primary purpose of the role will be to undertake to teach and provide advice as a member of a teaching team within the undergraduate programs in English, focusing on the areas of Literature or Applied Linguistics, and the sub-fields therein such as Literary Linguistics, Drama, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, Intercultural Communication, Historical Teaching. The post holder will also help to develop new course proposals and may contribute to curriculum development in the School.

Position Summary

The Role holder will have specific responsibility for identifying the learning needs of students and ensure that the content, methods of delivery, and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives of our courses in English Language and Literature and English Applied Linguistics. The role holder will be involved in the development of new teaching and assessment practices and/or developing systematic methods for evaluating and disseminating these practices within the Faculty/School.

The successful candidate on this Teaching Fellowship at the University of Nottingham is expected to deliver lectures and seminars in topics within Literature and Applied Linguistics. Specifically, the University is looking for someone who has some teaching experience in higher education, specializing in at least two of the following areas: Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Intercultural Communication, Business, and Professional Communication, Discourse Analysis, English Literature, Drama, English Language Teaching Methods, and Academic Learning Skills. The candidate is required to deliver teaching to all levels of the undergraduate and possibly postgraduate programs.

Eligibilities

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree at or near completion in a relevant discipline, preferably in English Literature or Applied Linguistics, and excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Candidates who are interested in research and who will contribute to Research and Knowledge Exchange activities and undertake administrative duties are preferred.

Compensation

Salary will be within the range of RMB 331,602– RMB 380,522 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance, and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
