Applications are open for the European University Institute Policy Leader Fellowship 2022-2023. The Policy Leader Fellowship is a global program for early and mid-career policy practitioners from around the world. To enhance their work and professional skills, whilst participating in workshops, training, skills development sessions, conferences, and other events. In addition, they get the chance to interact with other fellows, policy-makers, and the academic community at the EUI.

The fellowships last for five (fixed term in the first or second semester) or ten months (the fixed term from September to the end of June). The candidates can indicate their preference when applying, but once selected for a specific start date and period, no changes or extensions can be granted.

Applications are now opened for the 2022-2023 MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to international and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) students enrolled at Universities MPOWER supports. At MPOWER, it’s believed that they’re not just expanding access to higher education but also creating globally-minded, multi-lingual, culturally-competent graduates poised to take on the world’s most pressing problems in science, technology, business, and public policy!

In recognition of the extraordinary potential of these students, the MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarship has been created. The Scholarship program has been designed to be as broad as possible to match the broad, diverse experiences of international students. There’s no requirement to be an MPOWER borrower to apply.

Applications are open for the Rest and Refuge Fellowship Program 2022. For 2022, they are inviting two journalists from countries with restricted press freedom to Berlin. The Rest and Refuge Fellowship program is a joint project of Reporters Without Borders Germany and the Taz Panter Foundation.

Participants can, if they wish, withdraw completely from public life and use the time in Berlin to work on their own projects. However, organizers also provide opportunities for further education, professional networking, and resilience building. For example, all fellows are given the opportunity to take a language course and get to know German media outlets. However, the primary goal is for the fellows to enjoy a sabbatical period and thus return to their home country strengthened. The fellowship is limited to a period of six months.

Applications are open for the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism 2022-2023. The O’Brien Fellows spend nine months reporting stories with the power to compel change. They complete an in-depth reporting project of their choosing on a topic of state, regional, national or international interest over two academic semesters.

Backed by Marquette University, the O’Brien Fellowship helps news professionals dig deep while mentoring student journalists. The program honors Marquette alumni Alicia and Perry O’Brien. Their daughter, Patricia Frechette, and her husband, Peter, donated $8.3 million in 2012 to create the fellowship. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is a co-founder and partner.

Applications are open for the Teachers CAN Fellowship 2022. The Teachers CAN recognizes the steep learning curve and intensity of the first years of teaching. Added to limited peer support and connection opportunities, the under-valuing of teachers’ voices in the broader eco-system and limited scope to influence the day-to-day running of classrooms and they are running the risk of more and more young teachers leaving the profession.
