Toyota Foundation invites application for Research Grant on the theme “Exploring New Values for Society”. Toyota Grant supports ambitious projects that adopt a panoramic view of the world and look generations into the future in order to seek new values for society by fundamentally exploring novel philosophies and arts to address difficult issues to be faced by future society; issues that are on a global scale; issues that transcend generations; as well as nascent problems that will only fully manifest themselves in the future.

Toyota Foundation Research Grant

The Toyota Foundation has allocated the total Research Grant amount of 60 million yen. The candidates successful to receive the grant will receive up to 8 million yen(Up to 1.5 million yen/project for project teams of two persons or less) for research purposes.

Who is eligible for the Toyota Foundation Research Grant?

Toyota Foundation considers the candidates eligible for its Research Grants if the application aligns with the following principle:

• Project teams of three persons or more are eligible for the grant. (Proposals by teams of two persons or less are also eligible in cases where it is difficult to organize a team of three persons.)
• Moreover, project representatives must be 45 years old or under on the day of the beginning of the grant.
• All nationalities may apply, but a project representative must have a residence(contact address) in Japan.
• All research area and methods are eligible for the proposal; nor is there any limitation with regard to the nationality of the project representative or participants, or their affiliation(or lack thereof) with a university, research institute, NPO/NGO, or other organization.

How to apply for the Toyota Foundation Research Grant?

To apply for the research grants, candidates should register an account at Toyota foundation. After registering applicant information, the applicants must download and submit the Basic Information Form (MS Excel) and the Project Proposal Form (MS Word).

However, the applicants should note that the Toyota Foundation doesn’t accept applications by email, postal mail, personal delivery, or fax.

Deadline

Toyota Foundation will accept the research proposal for the grants until 13 September 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are not eligible for grant consideration.
