United Nations Regional Course in International Law for Africa 2027 (Fellowship Available)

The United Nations Regional Course in International Law for Africa 2027 is an international legal training opportunity organized by the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs. The programme is designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of international law and the legal work of the United Nations. Applications are now open for qualified professionals from eligible African countries who wish to enhance their expertise and contribute to international legal practice.

The course is organized by the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in cooperation with the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the African Union, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

Benefits of the Programme

The Regional Course offers participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of international law through interactive seminars, expert-led discussions, and exchanges with legal professionals from different countries and legal systems. Participants receive comprehensive training materials and can explore important international legal principles, institutions, and practices.

Selected fellowship recipients receive financial support covering economy-class travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and training materials. They also receive a modest stipend to help cover other living expenses, subject to applicable United Nations fellowship regulations.

A limited number of self-funded places are also available. Participants selected for these places must cover their own participation-related expenses.

Participants who successfully complete the entire course receive a certificate. The programme is particularly relevant to government lawyers, legal advisers, international law practitioners, and academics seeking to strengthen their professional knowledge.
