Apply for the UQ Osiecki Honors Scholarships for International Students in Australia. The deadline for the application is ongoing. The scholarship is for Bachelors, Masters degree.

Acceptable courses: Honors program in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Purpose

The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and support honors students in the discipline of Classics and Ancient History to undertake travel that furthers their studies.

Value and award of the Scholarship

(a) The value of the Scholarship is $6,250 per year paid in two instalments;
(b) Similarly, senate may award 2 Scholarships in a year on the recommendation of the Head.

 Eligibility for Honors Scholarships for International Students

An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship if the applicant –

  • submits an application to the Head, by the closing date for applications; and
  •  Also, is either enrolled in the honors year of the approved program or has submitted an application for admission to the honors program
  • Likewise,  does not hold another scholarship that the Head considers to be similar.

 Selection of award

For the selection process the Head must establish a selection committee, comprising –

  • the Head of School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry or staff nominee as chair
  • Also,  the holder of the Paul Eliadis Chair of Classics and Ancient History or staff nominee; and
  • Dr Vera Osiecki or nominee; and
  •  Likewise, the Director of the R.D. Milns Antiquities Museum or staff nominee

Additionally, the University awards the Scholarship to the applicant showing greatest merit as demonstrated by –

  • academic achievement and potential for scholastic success
  • Also, how travel or undertaking an internship will enhance the student’s honors year studies; and
  • any other matters the committee considers relevant.
