UN Women Invites internship in the Budget Section of the Organization. The Budget Section under the Division of Management and Administration is responsible for general direction and guidance in the planning, preparation, and management of the budget. Further, it provides biennial support budget and annual non-budget ensuring compliance with results-based budgeting. Also, it assists in incorporating strategic plans, goals, and objectives and accountability framework; and develops budget policies, directives, systems and tools to facilitate budget planning and preparation.

Moreover, the intern will have a learning opportunity that will:

  • Increase understanding of UN Women’s work and the UN system
  • Learning different aspects of budget and finance in an international environment
  • Increased knowledge of issues related to budget and finance management
  • Meeting and networking with UN Women interns and colleagues in other units
  • Work as a team member in a multicultural setting

What will the Budget Intern do at UN Women?

UN Women Budget Intern will assist in the various tasks of the Budget section including:

  • preparation of templates/checklists aimed at improving work process and increasing efficiency.
  • preparation of budget monitoring reports/implementation reports.
  • The analysis, as needed, to update budget policies, guidance, and instructions.
  • The design and placement of budget-related information available on the UN Women portal.
  • The preparation of presentations for various meetings.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for the Budget Internship at UN Women?

UN Women will only respond to the applications in which there is further interest. Hence, to apply for the Budget internship, the candidates must be able to demonstrate unparalleled qualification. These include:

  • The intern must have studies in  Finance/Management at the university level.
  • Be in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation from an academic program.
  • Moreover, applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation are not eligible.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Further, applicants do not require having professional working experience for participation in the UN Internship Program
  • Fluency of English (both written and spoken) is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of French and Spanish is also desirable.
  • Also, Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds as well as beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

How to apply for an Internship at UN Women?

Applicants may apply for the UN Women internship by submitting the online application. Further, the applicants will require a recent CV and cover letter to apply for the internship. Also, the interns may submit a relevant portfolio and documentation.

Interns, however, should note that they may submit only one PDF file via the online application portal. Hence, the applicants must merge all documents into one PDF file before uploading.

Applicants may apply for the Budget Internship at UN Women until 12 July 2019. UN Women will not accept any more application after the past the deadline
