The United Nations invites application for Public Information Internship. This internship is located in the Peacebuilding Commission Support Branch (PCSB) of the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). The internship is for a period of three to six months. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Branch to which they are assigned.

What will the Public Information Interns do at the United Nations?

The Public Information Internship is under the supervision of the Peacebuilding Support Office (PSO). Moreover,  PSO would like to recruit an intern to support the work of the Peacebuilding Commission Support Branch (PCSB). Moreover, the interns will have responsibilities to:

  • Provide support on the implementation of the communication strategy of the PBSO;
  • Assist in producing visual and multimedia materials, including photos, video clips, infographics, graphic cards, information kit;
  • Maintaining a diverse image library with photos, illustrations, videos etc. while also, managing and updating content for the UN
  • Peacebuilding website and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr);
  • Monitoring and clipping news coverage on peacebuilding issues and preparing daily newsletters;
  • Monitoring and analyzing insights of the website and social media sites and producing media monitoring reports on a regular basis;
  • Transforming data and research into compelling visuals
  • Assist the communication team with any other duties as may be assigned.

What do you need for UN Public Information Internship?

To qualify for a Public Information internship in the UN Internship program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or Master’s level or equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation from an academic program.
  • Moreover, applicants who are unable to commence the internship within one year of graduation are not eligible.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications, and with particular knowledge/expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign). Any other Graphic Design Software, as well as editing software including Video Editing (Final Cut Pro, etc), is an advantage.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in the UN’s work and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Further, applicants do not require having professional working experience for participation in the UN Internship Program
  • Fluency of English (both written and spoken) is desirable. Additionally, knowledge of the UN language is an advantage.

How to apply for an Internship at the UN?

Applicants may apply for the UN internship by submitting the online application. Further, the applicants will require a recent CV and cover letter to apply for the internship. Also, the interns may submit a relevant portfolio and documentation.

Interns, however, should note that they may submit only one PDF file via the online application portal. Hence, the applicants must merge all documents into one PDF file before uploading.

Deadline

Applicants may apply for the Public Information Internship at United Nations until 26 July 2019. UN will not accept any more application after the past the deadline.
