An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) within the Education department as a Lecturer!

Humanitarian teaching at LSTM provides a top-level, world-class education for experienced and aspiring humanitarian practitioners and others interested in this field.  Through lectures, seminars and group work LSTM provide critical knowledge and practical skills to better comprehend and analyse humanitarian action.

Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian

Key responsibilities of Lecturer include (not limited to):

  • Teach and support programmes and modules provided by LSTM
  • Work closely with LSTM’s Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team to embed technological innovation in the curriculum
  • Contribute to future networking and joint initiatives with partner organisations
  • Develop and deliver modules within the Humanitarian Studies Programme
  • In addition, develop and lead on distant learning modules in issues of global health, humanitarian theory, history and practice
  • Supervise as well as guide post-graduate students in dissertations
  • Support students in placement-based projects via networking and guidance
  • Moreover, undertake personal tutoring
  • Assist students in accessing support services as needed

Requirements

  • Be passionate about humanitarian affairs and to able to inspire practitioners as well as students to achieve their potential
  • At least 2 years teaching experience in the higher education sector
  • Holding a PhD on a topic relevant to Humanitarian Studies
  • Provide academic guidance, including oversight of the needs of students with special requirements
  • A clear understanding of current issues, debates as well as concerns in the humanitarian relief sector
