Description:

The Student Advisor will collaborate across the University to provide guidance, resources, and support to undergraduate students. Also, the Student Advisor will create resources and events to facilitate student success, evaluate metrics and data to determine retention strategies for individual students, communicate policies, procedures, and advice through a variety of modes (video, phone, text and in person), participate in campus-wide events, and serve as an integral part of the Division of Student Success mission and students professional and academic growth.

Duties:

The incumbent must meet the following for Vacancy for Assistant Director in the USA:

  • Customize advising sessions based on the unique needs of each student, applying understanding, compassion, strength-based coaching, and competence when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Also, conduct appointments in-person, via text, over the phone, and/or online
  • Respond immediately to at-risk cases, making appropriate referrals to campus support services and resources (i.e., counseling, career planning, tutoring, disability services) and consulting with the departmental Director as needed.
  • Moreover, maintain timely and accurate case notes and records in Salesforce.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of course prerequisites, degree equivalents, degree requirements, and University policies to effectively coach students with regard to program and course selection.
  • Additionally, apply conflict management and conflict resolution skills when working with dissatisfied clients.
  • Furthermore, collaborate with relevant faculty, staff, and administrators for academic updates and to ensure satisfactory academic progress for all assigned students.
  • Likewise, attend and participate in recruitment, outreach, and campus activities such as New Student Orientation and Commencement.

  • Furthermore, work strategically and take initiative.
  • Exercise sound judgment in decision making and problem solving.
  • Moreover, manage multiple projects and work assignments within established time frames.
  • Work independently and collaborate within a team.
  • Additionally, demonstrate competence and skills with adopting and learning new technologies.
  • Likewise, high proficiency with MS Office and Salesforce with a willingness to efficiently learn new technologies.
