New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Also, aligned with Rutgers University-New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and six centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, clinical and translational research, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Business Administrator for the Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science (RITMS). Likewise, under the direction of the Program Director, the Temporary Business Administrator will be expected to prepare grant proposals associated with Federal, State, Non-Profit agencies, review all business aspects of a grant proposal and/or clinical trial contracts for completeness and accuracy, including budget development. Additionally, review grant terms and/or contract conditions to ensure that they meet the guidelines.

Duties:

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists with the coordination and administration of Institute programs, and/or projects, such as grant/contract proposal preparation, tracking clinical trial amendments, pilot grants, or protocols associated with special projects.
  • Also, assists in all aspects of the budgeting process for the departments, including forecasting/modeling, accounting, reporting and financial analysis.
  • Moreover, maintains records of expenditures, invoices, and payments, tracks actual vs budget variance, and assists in generating monthly financial reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets for both academic and industry projects.
  • Additionally, maintains confidential correspondence and financial records.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate program for one of the following fields is requirement for this position: Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, General Business, Undeclared-Business, or other related field.
  • Also, equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Excel and Oracle Financial System, and experience with financial statement preparation and general accounting concepts.
  • Moreover, must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel.
  • Also, must be capable of independent decision-making, and multitasking.
  • Similarly, strong communication skills.
