About:

The Sorenson Impact Center is an applied academic organization focused on solving social problems through the use of data, evidence, and innovation. Housed at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, the Center works with public, nonprofit, and private sector stakeholders across the nation and internationally to develop and implement outcomes-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

  1. May keep department computer hardware and software running and up-to-date by troubleshooting problems and reviewing new programs.
  2. Moreover, may mentor or act as a supervisor to students, junior designers, and contract designers Meets with clients initially to determine needs, budget and deadlines; meets subsequently to discuss changes and finalize the project.
  3. Researches and studies ideas related to each project; conceptualizes original work to communicate the intent of the project.
  4. Also, develops cost estimates for clients by balancing the needs of the project with the available budget.
  5. Designs a range of artistic material, e.g. catalog, poster, brochure, billboard, etc. using sophisticated computer equipment and software programs.
  6. Likewise, produces art for the assigned project by following a pasteboard technique on the computer, and finalizes in a manner that is ready for printing.
  7. Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, chooses color/s, and arranges layout based upon available space.
  8. Moreover, completes pre-press check by ensuring colors and saturation are exact, overlap properly and do not leave gaps, and ensures inks are solid and in the correct place.
  9. May hire outside vendors including photographers, illustrators, and/or production artists to meet particular styles of photography, or illustration.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work with tight deadlines and manage various timelines
  • Also, ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Ability to effectively work with colleagues, clients, and management while communicating effectively.
  • Moreover, must have a deep passion for design and visual communication
  • An understanding of the latest trends in the design world to stay relevant
  • Proficient in Adobe creative cloud
  • Likewise, leadership skills including the ability to give and receive feedback and delegate tasks when necessary.
